The Presidents Corner

Members,
Since my last letter many things have happened, although most of them will most likely not be noticed. The Inmates from the prison have spent four days cleaning rocks from the shooting bays. They will be back later this year to do some much needed painting. We hope to be able to use their help on an ongoing basis to help with much of the maintenance and improvements around the range.

As I write this, spring is upon us, with its winds and dust and the coming of the snakes. So far I’ve heard of four snakes being killed on the range, three were Mohave Greens; so a reminder to be careful.

In response to my pleas for volunteers I have received offers from six people, so far, who have stepped up to help the Club, in whatever ways they can. I continue to ask people to volunteer to help the Club. There is no shortage of work, only people to do it. We very much need people to get involved in areas of learning the skills required to be match directors, group coordinators, and administrative positions. We need people with computer skills, organization skills, time to help with filing and sorting. We would like to hear from people who would be interested in being a resident range officer. A resident range officer, would be given parking space on the range for their RV or trailer and a small salary, in return for their being on the premises and working a given number of hours per week. Anyone knowing of someone who would like this type of position please have them contact me.

The Club will continue to work with Game & Fish on youth shooting programs, and hunter
education. In addition we are planning new programs to introduce and encourage people of all ages and genders to participate in the shooting/hunting sports. I would invite any of our
members with ideas or suggestions to contact me. Let’s let everyone know who we are and what we can do for them. We need to be a well known, positive part of the community.

Lastly and importantly: I have been made aware that someone who has, in the past, been one of our outstanding volunteers. Howard Lawrence was the person responsible for most of the construction of our Club House and the fireplace. On behalf of the Board of Directors, the membership we wish to thank you for all your help and your efforts to create a better Club and better facilities for our use. It is men like you who have made our Club what it is today.

Respectfully,

Don (Doc) Orblom, President
